Emma-Kate Wilson was born in the UK, but moved to Sydney just over seven years ago, and became an Australian Resident very recently. Walking through the Botanical Gardens of Sydney and living in the beach-side suburb of Manly, the yet to become writer felt inspired by days of sunshine and the sublime effects of nature.

After volunteering at a little ARI gallery in the Rocks, Emma-Kate decided to immerse herself in the visual language of Australia. In 2015, she embarked on a degree in Art Theory at UNSW and Art & Design in Paddington, Sydney, graduating in June 2018. Since then she has been published extensively in print and digital media, as well as working at some of Sydney's most prominent cultural institutions.

Today, she can happily say, she is working full time as a freelance art and design journalist— including copywriting for renowned artists, designers, and publications.

Emma-Kate writes regularly for Art Almanac, Artist Profile, Hunter & Folk, Est Living, Habitus Living, Domain Living, Ocula, MutualArt. She has also written for The Local Project, Vault, Articulate PR ( & The Golden Mean), Running Dog, un Projects, Art + Australia Online, Urban List, Art Monthly, ABC Arts, Lovatt's Media: Mindful Parenting & Audrey Daybook, Broadsheet, Concrete Playground, and Time Out.

Her writing has also been informed by work and volunteer experiences at art institutions, such as Cement Fondu, Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (& SCCI), Kaldor Public Arts Projects, Carriageworks, Sydney Biennale, Firstdraft, and Kudos Gallery — including an internship in the visitor services and administration at Carriageworks in 2017.

Emma-Kate brings a diverse range of experience from retail, marketing and hospitality. While her conversational tone is focused on sustainability, art, object design, and architecture, she can flex to suit different voices— thanks to her friendly and open demeanour, travelling and working all over the world, and sense of humour!

These experiences, (and the ability to chat to a fish) encourages storytelling, while her keen visual eye picks up on excellence in design and art that transcends time or place.
